Matching methods to needs
HERON has extensive experience within a broad range of data sourcing methods, including complex literature searching, as well as expertise in data analysis and reporting. While we can employ the full range of meta-analytic methods, including indirect analyses and mixed treatment comparisons, we pride ourselves on only doing analyses that are appropriate and informative. We don’t do a mixed treatment comparison just to show we can – we will do it if it adds to the interpretation of the data. This is particularly important for technically demanding processes such as Health Technology Assessment submissions where you, and HERON, need to explain the choice of methods and assumptions to leading experts in a way that is transparent, clear, and compelling.
This flow of methods includes economic evaluation, as well as activities more commonly associated with pricing and market access functions. HERON does not isolate approaches. If the right treatments are to be reimbursed, it is necessary to keep in mind all aspects of the market access process. In evidence review, effectiveness and efficacy are nothing if the drug is priced out of the market or if clinical guidance is so complex that no-one follows it. We match our methods to your needs so that the evidence you get is appropriate to the question(s) you are asking.

Evidence review and synthesis is increasingly complex, particularly in situations (such as Health Technology Assessment submissions) where it overlaps with other technical methods including economic evaluation. This requires highly specific expertise, while retaining an understanding of the whole process.
