Customized to meet the level of rigor mandated by the world's most demanding authorities, HERON's heritage in scientific methodology, coupled with industry knowledge and insight, make for a superior review that is fundamental to a strong evidence case.
Many questions arise during the development of a new treatment. The audience asking these questions can range from individual patients and clinicians to payers and government reimbursement agencies. The needs, preferences and demands of these audiences vary dramatically. At HERON, we work hard to base our data sourcing and synthesis methods on your specific needs.
To illustrate, there are two themes HERON would like to elaborate on: the first is matching methods to needs, and the second is how we provide expert guidance and support throughout.
Matching methods to needs
HERON has extensive experience within a broad range of data sourcing methods, including complex literature searching, as well as expertise in data analysis and reporting. While we can employ the full range of meta-analytic methods, including indirect analyses and mixed treatment comparisons, we pride ourselves on only doing analyses that are appropriate and informative. We don’t do a mixed treatment comparison just to show we can – we will do it if it adds to the interpretation of the data. This is particularly important for technically demanding processes such as Health Technology Assessment submissions where you, and HERON, need to explain the choice of methods and assumptions to leading experts in a way that is transparent, clear, and compelling.
This flow of methods includes economic evaluation, as well as activities more commonly associated with pricing and market access functions. HERON does not isolate approaches. If the right treatments are to be reimbursed, it is necessary to keep in mind all aspects of the market access process. In evidence review, effectiveness and efficacy are nothing if the drug is priced out of the market or if clinical guidance is so complex that no-one follows it. We match our methods to your needs so that the evidence you get is appropriate to the question(s) you are asking.
With expert guidance throughout
In order to match HERON methods to your needs, you need guidance from people that have a broad range of expertise across methodologies. Evidence review and synthesis is increasingly complex, particularly in situations (such as Health Technology Assessment submissions) where it overlaps with other technical methods including economic evaluation. This requires highly specific expertise, while retaining an understanding of the whole process.
HERON offers expertise across disciplines including modeling experts who have done systematic reviews, and market access staff with expertise in the review of evidence. If you need modeling or pricing guidance as part of your product’s commercial development, we’ll anticipate and articulate needs and get those HERON experts involved at the beginning. HERON evidence review projects align skills in a seamless manner, providing a hybrid final deliverable.
HERON review teams are organized to match expertise to the project. At every stage, the team you are working with understands the context of the work and the implications of their decisions.
