Recognition for HERON presentation at ISPOR
HERON is delighted to announce that Melanie Plested, a Senior Health Outcomes Analyst based at the UK office, was one of three recipients of the ISPOR Best Contributed Podium Presentation Award 2008, presented at the Athens European conference. In competition with approximately 75 other podium presentations, the ISPOR Awards committee judged Melanie’s presentation on numerous criteria including clarity of presentation and methodology of research. As one of three winners, Melanie’s presentation stood out from the crowd and is a great example of the high quality work that HERON provides.
The award received by Melanie was in recognition of her podium presentation on: “A comparison of reasons for recommendation and rejection in four health technology appraisal systems: NICE, SMC, CADTH and PBAC”. The study was conducted by analysts Kimberly Cann, Rina Karia, Ebony Samuels and Melanie Plested. Amongst the numerous results of the study, HERON’s team of analysts highlighted robust economic cost-effectiveness as a key reason for recommendation as well as the main area of conflict between HTA bodies' decisions.
