HERON US P and MA Team Approaches Recruitment Target

Recent appointments within HERONs US based Pricing and Market Access practice means that the team is approaching the mid-year target. The team is engaged with numerous US and global Pricing and Market Access assignments and looks forward to continued expansion during 2010 and 2011. Six new members of staff have joined in Q2 2010 and we anticipate more appointment announcements within the next few weeks. Erik Schultz, HERONs US VP of Pricing and Market Access reports that, HERONs growth and success in the strategic US and global pricing and market access arenas was born from HERONs rich history of understanding and demonstrating value in quantitative terms. US market players are increasingly hungry for evidence that can properly demonstrate that manufacturers have done at least due diligence to properly define product value. Our primary goal is to continue providing strategic pricing and market access expertise for brands and franchises to realize their potential as the market dynamic slowly shifts away from competition within product class and toward competition across health care resources.

HERON moves into larger office in United States

We would like to congratulate Ian Jacob for winning the Heron scholarship to undergo the University of Sheffield MSc Health Economics and Decision Modelling programme in the 2009-2010 academic year.
The MSc in Health Economics and Decision Modelling is the only Masters programme in the UK with a specific focus on the practical application of mathematical modelling to inform healthcare decision problems. It aims to bridge the gap between the underlying theory and application of mathematical modelling for decision making and more traditional health economics. The course aims to:
Equip students with a professional level analytical skill-base required to evaluate and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems for which they have responsibility Provide an in-depth understanding of current state-of-the-art methods for mathematical modelling to support and inform evidence-based healthcare decision problems Provide a firm grounding for students wishing to pursue research degrees in health economics and mathematical modelling These aims fit naturally with the objectives of HERONs Health Economic Modelling Unit and the needs of our clients for ever more technically advanced modelling work. Both, Amanda and Debi, will allow HERON to continue to provide service excellence, and strategic account management support through a continued period of high growth. As Director of Business Development, Debi will be responsible for identifying and developing domestic and global business from new and existing clients within pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies. As a strategic partner she will work in collaboration with clients to identify the optimal HERON service offerings and expertise to fulfill an established need. During a project she will serve as liaison between HERON and the client, and with the internal teams to ensure that new business is translated into projects that are implemented to meet established time lines and budgets. As a Business Development Analyst, Amanda will serve to provide research for disease areas and products of relevance for proposal development. Additionally, Amanda will incorporate accurate and reliable systematic review scoping search strategies in multiple database platforms to provide ongoing background research regarding current and prospective client product portfolios, to help maintain contemporary industry intelligence.

Baiju obtained a BSc in Marketing with a minor in Psychology from Rutgers University School of Business and is in the process of completing his MBA. He brings a wealth of pharmaceutical and biotech commercial expertise to the role. Eric studied Electrical Engineering before completing a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Eric draws on a diverse background including experience as a healthcare provider, needs based consultant and district sales coordinator in the insurance industry. As a part of the growing Heron presence in the east coast pharmaceutical hub, Baiju and Eric will assist Heron in the achievement of strategic growth plans.
